Andrew at LC on bloggertarians:
Libertarians almost all seem to believe that they have achieved everything in life entirely by themselves, having struggled against mighty odds and overwhelming enemies to become moderately successful computer programmers, despite the horrible disadvantages of being born white, English-speaking heterosexual males in middle-class families.
I admit this is slightly unfair: some bloggertarians are gay, and some are from upper-class families.
LOL.
And some of them don't program computers. They work for political parties instead.
And many of them are entirely happy to acknowledge that they have had advantages in life – such as an excellent education – and would like to see everyone have those same advantages.
Many of them might even acknowledge that those advantages have been made possible by their families working very fucking hard, making a good number of sacrifices and actively wishing to pass some of their good fortune to their children, rather than pissing it up the wall.
Still, it's all luck, isn't it?
